Cytopore1 macroporous microcarriers are principally designed for use in suspension culture systems for growth of adherent recombinant Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells, and the production of recombinant proteins. Macroporous Cytopore microcarriers for cell culture from Cytiva. Microcarrier culture is a technique which makes possible the high yield culture of anchorage-dependent cells. Cytopore microcarriers are macroporous making it possible for cells to grow in 3D and upply an even larger surface area per volume to enhance this already high yielding culture technique. The microcarriers are positively charged due to the DEAE groups coupled to the cellulose matrix and have a very precise particle size distribution and network structure, where the ratio of surface area to particle material is more than 95 to 1.The network structure enables stained cells to be closely observed while they grow inside the microcarriers.
  • The macroporous structure of Cytopore microcarriers encourages cell growth into the bead, while the micropores provide maximum nutrient availability.
  • Cytopore characteristics enable growth of cells which require high recirculation rates and high nutrient-availability.
